“Call It What It Is”: White Collar Boxer’s Death Sparks Outrage in Boxing World

For the second time, a participant passed away after taking part in ‘Ultra White Collar Boxing’. The participant who passed away has been identified as a student named Jubal Reji Kurian, and he entered the event on March 25th. Reji Kurian was admitted to Queen’s Medical Centre after receiving a serious injury. As per UWCB’s claim, it particularly aimed at “complete beginners” with only eight weeks of training at a particular gym.

The organization claimed to raise money for Cancer Research UK through charity boxing. However, the boxing world has noticed a fatal incident concerning the participants in UWCB. As per Daily Mail, not long ago, participants namely Adam Smith and Ben Sandiford had to be hospitalized following their bouts in UWCB.

In a picture uploaded by Daily Mail, two boxers are seen fighting at an event of UWCB. It is worth mentioning that last year in April, another athlete, Dominic Chapman, collapsed in the ring. After the news of Kurian’s death broke out, several people reacted to it. Here is what they are saying. User @dudleyland1066 discouraged the practice of UWCB. They commented, “White Collar”? Call it what it is, unlicensed.

According to user @JohnEJeffereson, this is “Not the best way to raise money for a charity“.

Meanwhile, user @CarahJBoden raised a number of questions concerning the event by UWCB. “Was he wearing appropriate head protection?” they asked.

Likewise, user @suchashame17 commented, “Such a shame.

According to user @DrAndrewGreen, this is completely inappropriate to be raising money through boxing. “Even without this tragedy, it is inappropriate for @CRUK_Policy [Cancer Research UK] to be raising money through boxing“, they said.
