“I fight anybody. My entire life, anybody. What are you think? I don’t want to fight with one Mexican Benavidez. But look, I hear his dad talk a lot of sh*t. But look, what he’s accomplished. Nothing. One single champion, Anthony Dirrell. Please, don’t disrespect myself. Please, guys.”

Father of David Benavidez on Canelo Alvarez

Benavidez’s father was not so pleased with Alvarez. According to Benavidez’ father, his son was born in Arizona, but his ancestors are Mexicans. He said, “He was born in Arizona, so I think that makes him an American. There you go. Canelo can fight him because he’s not Mexican. He can fight him.”

“Come on, that’ll never happen. I think Canelo and Eddy Reynoso, they got to grow some b**ls. I’m getting tired of all this s***. Now, he says if Zurdo Ramirez wins [against Dmitry Bivol], he’s [Canelo] not going to fight another Mexican, “ he added.

“Champions are supposed to fight anybody. They deserve a chance. David [Benavidez] won an eliminator, and now he’s an interim champion with the WBC, and he still doesn’t want to fight him. What kind of s*** is that? How can you call yourself a champion?” he concluded by saying.
