David Benavidez‘s dream of facing Canelo Alvarez has seemingly vanished. Even Floyd Mayweather‘s protégé presents a different perspective on this potential fight. The undefeated challenger, long considered the frontrunner to challenge the undisputed super middleweight champion, has declared the fight dead in the water. This news comes as a major blow to boxing fans who were eagerly awaiting a clash between the two titans. Canelo’s upcoming bout on May 4th against Jaime Munguia has further solidified this charge.

Benavidez believes Canelo’s outrageous purse demands, rumored to be a staggering $150 million, are a clear sign of his reluctance to face him. “With Canelo, it’s that bulls**t, ‘Oh, he needs to be respectful.’ I won’t bow my knee to anybody because I’ve earned my shot,” he stated on The Fresh and Fit Podcast. Moreover, Curmel Moton has now spoken about this fight, and he agrees with Benavidez that Alvarez knows he might get battered at the hands of ‘The Mexican Monster’ if he were to agree to a fight.

3-0 Curmel Moton has weighed in on the highly anticipated clash between Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez, and it seems like according to him, the torch might be getting passed soon. Moton, known for his sharp boxing IQ, believes Canelo’s reign may be nearing its end. “Canelo was the king, but I feel like his time’s passed a little bit,” Moton stated. He acknowledges Canelo’s past dominance but believes Benavidez presents a unique challenge. “Canelo’s definitely a great fighter, but I feel like it’s Benavidez’s time,” claimed the young prodigy.

Moton highlighted Benavidez’s relentless pressure and punching output as key factors. “His punch output is just too much for people,” he explained. He dismissed the notion that Benavidez’s style is reckless, acknowledging a hidden defensive ability. The young fighter went a step further. He furthered that “Canelo’s not the same fighter he once was” and he sees Benavidez as someone who is in his prime and “100% dedicated.” This dedication, Moton believes, will translate into superior conditioning in the later rounds, giving Benavidez a significant edge.

Moton’s comments add fuel to the fire surrounding this potential mega-fight. With a boxing prodigy like Moton calling for a changing of the guard, the pressure is on Canelo to prove he can still reign supreme. However, on a different note, Moton’s promoter and the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe believes that Canelo Alvarez is playing a smart game by ducking Benavidez, and it’s not because of fear.

Leonard Ellerbe, a prominent figure in boxing, recently addressed the hot-button topic with Fight Hub TV. In it, Ellerbe emphatically denied rumors that Canelo Alvarez was fearing a fight with David Benavidez. Moreover, he praised Canelo Alvarez and his trainer Eddy Reynoso for their strategic business acumen.

Ellerbe said, “Well one thing I do know is Canelo and Eddy Reynoso are very smart, savvy businessmen. He knows what he’s doing and I can look into the camera and tell the fans Canelo Alvarez is not scared of David Benavidez. That’s not true.” Ellerbe sees it as a great way of stalling to elevate the business of the contest. He added, “I think when they fight it’s going to be a terrific fight. At that point in time it’ll be the biggest fight in all of boxing.
