Ahead of his undisputed super Middleweight title defence against Jermell Charlo in September, Canelo Alvarez took part in the American Country Championship. During his participation, Canelo Alvarez replied if fans could expect to see him knock out David Benavidez in the future. Following his interim super Middleweight title defence against Caleb Plant in March, Benavidez declared that Alvarez should give ‘El Bandera Roja’ an opportunity.
In Benavidez’s opinion, a bout with Canelo Alvarez would be bigger than his last fight with Caleb Plant in the ring. Thus, he said, “I think it would be huge pay-per-view numbers.” In addition, he mentioned proving himself against the current undisputed super Middleweight champion of the world. In this connection, at the American Country Championship, Alvarez announced that hopefully in the future he and Benavidez would share the boxing ring.

Canelo Alvarez keeps the prospect of a fight with David Benavidez alive
Although Canelo Alvarez claimed that Benavidez talked too much, he did not completely obliterate the prospect of a fight. A journalist recently informed Alvarez that he would personally love to see the Mexican phenom “knock out David Benavidez“. In addition, he asked, “Do you think that will happen in the future?” To this, Alvarez replied in the affirmative saying, “Yeah, why not? It may happen in the future.”
Disagree with Canelo here. David Benavidez has to put the pressure on him to make a fight. I don’t recall DB ever being disrespectful. It is the clear fight the public wants pic.twitter.com/8lEig5lGSR
