After his successful Light Heavyweight title defence against Canelo Alvarez at the T-Mobile, Dmitry Bivol recently squared off against Gilberto Ramirez at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi. Once again, with his WBA Super World Light Heavyweight title on the line, Bivol defeated Ramirez via UD, ending the latter’s winning streak of 44 pro fights. Following his recent victory, Bivol compared the experiences he gained from his last two fights.

After fighting the undefeated Ramirez for twelve straight rounds in the ring, Bivol praised Canelo Alvarez’s fight. According to him, Alvarez was a more powerful fighter than Ramirez, whom Bivol fought on November 5th. Although he outclassed Alvarez inside T-Mobile, Bivol acknowledged Alvarez to have punched harder than Ramirez did recently in Abu Dhabi.

“Canelo is [a] more powerful fighter. Canelo punch more harder than Ramirez,” said Bivol. Brutally honest, Bivol confessed that with Alvarez he had to work every round. However, with Ramirez, he felt like he could pause and get back to it again when he pleased.

“To be honest, I spent a lot more energy in fight against Canelo. I have to work every round. I have to win every round. With Ramirez, I thought, I can make a pause and do it again,” Bivol concluded by saying.

Canelo Alvarez is looking to rematch Dmitry Bivol in September 2023

Alvarez recently spoke about when he would like to return to boxing. In May 2023, Alvarez would like to return and have a tune-up fight. Following his tune-up fight, Canelo would like to face Bivol in a rematch in September 2023.

“The idea is to return in May with a tuneup fight to see how I feel and then get the rematch against Bivol in September. That’s the only thing I want for my career right now,” Alvarez revealed.
