The stage is set for an epic lightweight showdown on April 20th. WBC super-lightweight champion Devin Haney, brimming with confidence, will face off against the young boxing sensation Ryan Garcia. Their paths have crossed before, not as professionals, but as amateurs. Both have three victories over each other. Now, the stakes are high.

Haney will be making his first super-lightweight title defense after a stunning win last year against Regis Prograis. But the spotlight seems to be casting an uneven glow. While Haney exudes quiet self-assurance, Garcia’s pre-fight behavior has worried the boxing community. Meanwhile, the former training partner of ‘KingRy’, Canelo Alvarez, has claimed that Garcia could potentially defeat Devin. On that note, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to boxing fans that Bill Haney would respond to Canelo’s bold predictions.

Talking to the same media organization, Bill responded to Canelo’s bold assertion by saying that ‘Cinnamon’ should be in camp with Garcia, lending a helping hand, instead of talking ‘ from a distance.’

Haney stated, “I think Canelo needs to get in camp with him and help him, and not just talk from a distance if he feels that way. Because he’s gonna need Canelo’s help, for sure.

On that note, Bill also said that Garcia needs prominent boxing luminaries to support him in training camp, apart from his current trainer, Derrick James. Haney acknowledged the value of support from figures like Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez. However, he urged them to be more proactive with Garcia, asking them to “come out the bushes” instead of showing support from the shadows.

Furthermore, in another interview, Bill talked about Garcia’s bizarre social media antics that sparked concerns about his mental health among boxing fans.
