The world awaits to see who Deontay Wilder fights next. Could Cameroonian fighter, Carlos Takam be that name? The latter answers the question. Takam, French by nationality, is a fighter with an impressive record. With 49 fights under his belly, he’s won 41, lost 8, and ended up in a draw in one. He’s already fought the likes of Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora, and Arslanbek Makhmudov. However, a bout with Wilder still remains. But is Wilder ready to fight Takam?

On the ‘Day of Reckoning’ December card, Deontay Wilder registered the most devastating loss of his career. Against his Kiwi opponent, the Alabama hard-hitter registered the third loss in his career on points. With that loss, he also lost the chance to fight against his long-time-foe, Anthony Joshua. While providing an analysis of the fight, Takam also revealed certain aspects that he finds annoying about the ‘Bronze Bomber.’

In an exclusive conversation with Essentially Sports’ Sahil Sood, hosted by Press Box PR, the 43-year-old, Takam noted, “You know, that fight, was a crazy fight man. That fight was amazing fight. You know, I like both the boxers. Wilder and Parker. I know Parker, Joseph Parker.” His inability to win and Parker’s performance was noteworthy, according to Takam.

In 2016, Takam went against Parker in Manukau City, Australia, in which he lost on points. Speaking fondly of that fight, the fighter explained, “That fight, definitely, I was…support the guy. I know really good. Parker. Because some boxer doesn’t understand somebody like Wilder.” However, when it comes to Wilder, he holds some qualms. These doubts rest in how the latter treated the WBC champion, Tyson Fury.

“He’s good guy, I don’t know him too much. But he’s too much. Blablabla… that’s crazy. He talks sh*t. He can’t play too much. He talk too much.” In 2021, post their trilogy fight, it was understood that Wilder refused to shake hands with the man who defeated him, Tyson Fury. For Takam, that’s a sign of disrespect. “About Tyson Firy… talks about Wilder refusing to shake Fury’s hand. Have a respect man. In boxing, there is respect.”

Is he hostile toward Wilder? He explained, “Good luck for Wilder. I would like to (fight Wilder). It’s not a question, I say yes.” Has he received any offers for that? “No offers yet have come for that fight.” However, he remains increasingly keen to fight the Bronze Bomber.
