After two years’ absence, Jermall Charlo is finally going to make his way back to the ring. Initially, it was announced that he would be the first opponent of Canelo Alvarez’s three-fight deal with PBC. However, his brother ended up fighting the Mexican icon in his stead. Interestingly, there were rumors of him being Alvarez’s second opponent with the narrative of avenging his brother, but in a surprising turn of events, it was announced that Charlo would be fighting the younger brother of David Benavidez.
Charlo is going to face Jose Benavidez on 25th November, on the undercard of the fight between David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade. Notably, Benavidez himself has failed multiple times in his efforts to make the fight against Alvarez. So this fight is being seen as an attempt to discredit Charlo as a potential attempt at Alvarez. The flames of war have already ignited between Charlo and Benavidez. Recently, during a press conference, all hell broke loose as the two fighters exchanged heated words.

Jermall Charlo and Jose Benavidez don’t mince words
Recently, both Charlo and Benavidez did a virtual press conference with FightHub.TV and a clip from the interview surfaced on social media. In the video, Charlo stated, “It’s gonna feel good, to go in there and put these hands on that boy. He don’t know what he (is) getting himself into, so you know, let him talk. He said, that I talk s**t to him, no I just responded to your s**t, so whenever you get in there, you just gotta show me. I’m ‘bout that life. Show me! “
However, Benavidez took the opportunity to mock Charlo for getting slapped by Caleb Plant. He remarked, “If you were about that life you wouldn’t be crying on Instagram. But you’re not. Or get slapped by everybody.” Moreover, he also claimed that Charlo was trying to press charges on Plant for his action which the champion denied. He even claimed, “Bro you didn’t even see all that. You only seen one side of the story, you don’t even know what the f*k you’re talking about so whatever. I’mma whoop your brother and I’ll whoop your a**.”
