It’s been weeks since the middleweight contender made startling allegations against the Matchroom boss. Chris Eubank Jr. drops the tape and the heat on Eddie Hearn

To that effect, he released footage of the ambulance that was transporting him from the stadium back in April. “This is footage of my ambulance being blocked from leaving Tottenham Hotspur stadium on April 26th & my team shouting at security to open the gate so we can get to the hospital,” Eubank Jr. wrote on Instagram. He claimed he had already been waiting for 20 minutes by that point.

But Eubank Jr. didn’t stop there. He turned his aim directly at Eddie Hearn. “Eddie Hearn told everyone I lied about this, but the truth is, it happened & we have to make sure situations like this don’t ever happen again in our sport,” he said, emphasizing how such delays could jeopardize fighters’ safety and health.

It was during the rematch press conference in September that Eubank Jr. first made these fresh allegations. “I’m in this ambulance. [They] blocked that ambulance from leaving the stadium for 20 minutes. I’m laying there … oxygen mask on, and the car cannot move. They will not open the gates to let us leave,” he said, adding, “If that was a serious injury I had sustained, those 20 minutes of being locked in could have been the difference between life and death.

When Hearn challenged the claim, Eubank Jr. stood firm: “Yes. You guys blocked me from getting out. Who else would it have been?” But the animosity did not stop there.

At the London press conference in September, Eubank Jr. interrupted Hearn’s tribute to the late great Ricky Hatton to make a point. Hearn started off the whole thing with “Just firstly, 30 seconds on Ricky Hatton…” Eubank Jr. almost immediately interrupted with, “Come on Eddie, there’s no 30 seconds. You know the drill.” Hearn fired back on the spot, saying, “‘All I was going to do was say a few words about Ricky Hatton. You’re an as—-, you talk sh– you’ll get what’s coming to you.”

Yes, Eddie Hearn was having none of it, and he made it clear right at the start of all this drama.

When Hearn decided he wasn’t going to let it slide

But Hearn’s response was swift and strong. Seeking an immediate apology, and threatening legal action otherwise, he told the media, “He (Eubank Jr.) will be making an apology, or we’ll be taking legal action. I take this very personally. That’s my life. Our reputation in boxing is second to none, and you’ve got this guy making up s— like that that sounds awful.

Last year, fans saw a similar back-and-forth between Chris Eubank Jr. and Frank Warren. The Queensberry chief took immediate legal action. However, the two sides eventually reached a compromise by May of this year and released a joint statement.

The first fight between Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn lived up to expectations. A thrilling contest that many felt deserved Fight of the Year consideration. However, unlike the April bout, which was filled with high drama even before the opening bell, the upcoming rematch between Eubank Jr. and Benn appears to be a more subdued affair.

For now, fans will have to wait and see how Eddie Hearn responds to the newly released footage.

Do you think Conor Benn can turn the tide and secure a win over Eubank Jr. next weekend?
