Recently, Josh Taylor praised the amazing skills of a controversial Venezuelan boxer, Edwin Valero. Taylor made a tweet about the boxer, which garnered mixed reactions from the fans, as Taylor in his tweet praised the boxing skills of Valero. But some fans did not appreciate that, but Taylor responded back to such fans, revealing his intentions. Josh Taylor is the first Briton to become the undisputed champion in the four-belt era. The boxer is currently the undefeated champion and holds the precious WBO World Super Lightweight championship belt.

Josh Taylor in his tweet, stated that once he was a big fan of Edwin Valero, and learned a lot from the Venezuelan boxer. He tried to copy his moves in the boxing gym, and also during a sparring session. He learned a great deal about the Southpaw style from this boxer, and he still loves watching the videos of Valero.

This tweet did not sit well with some fans, as they couldn’t separate Valero’s past from his boxing skills. But that did not faze Taylor as he responded to such users with a reply, and went into details behind his statements. He even made a general comment on his own tweet, to clear his stance on the situation.

Josh Taylor responded to a fan full of “pity” on Twitter

A fan, @Paul_725, replied to Taylor’s tweet where he talked about how it’s a “pity” that Valero had a whole different side to him. The fan hinted that the boxer could’ve been a great boxer if he could just help the “murdering psychopath side of him”.

Josh Taylor responded to the fan by stating that he couldn’t care less about his past. His past doesn’t have anything to do with his boxing, according to Taylor. He then admitted that he learned a great deal from Valero’s boxing, and tries to “incorporate” what he learned with his own boxing skills.

In the same thread, @Paul_725 again replied to Taylor, that he thought if Taylor knew about his past, it may change his opinion about Valero. But then he understood that it won’t affect Josh Taylor at all, and he decided to deviate from the topic and asked to give Jack Catterall a rematch. Notably, fans were not satisfied when Josh Taylor retained the belt after an extremely controversial decision. But Taylor just replied saying, “I don’t care.”

It’s apparent from the conversation that Taylor has mastered the technique of ‘separating art from the artist’. And he’s also trying to tell his fans to do the same. But it seems that Valero’s past will always haunt his legacy.
