David Haye did exactly what he had claimed that he would do in his returning fight against Joe Fournier tonight. The two-division champion picked an easy win via unanimous decision. Ending a hiatus of over three years, ‘Hayemaker’ came in with all his experience and displayed his supremacy brilliantly inside the ring.
But he was never free of challenges coming from the other end. Despite the sheer differences in the respective resumes, Joe Fournier didn’t hesitate to brawl with ‘Hayemaker’. He became the aggressor on several occasions, notably at the beginning of the third round.

Coming into the battle, Joe Fournier had a 100% KO ratio, with 9 KO wins in all 9 of his professional bouts. But David Haye was clearly way superior to any of his former rivals.
By the end of round four, Haye had landed 27 shots in response to Fournier’s 10, including a knockdown in the maiden round. That said, he looked smart from the initial stage. While Fournier had gone to defense mode several times, Haye charged him with good combinations. 40-year-old Haye also used his sharp jabs that played a pivotal role in the entire fight.

Well, that’s not all. Haye’s defense also appeared in place as he floated around the ring throughout. Joe Fournier looked adamant about hitting Haye in the seventh round. However, David Haye’s sheer head movement and footwork helped him duck the aggression in the final rounds.
David Haye still has the fire in him
Although Haye won the fight, he failed to stop Fournier in the ring. Hence, he may re-think before remaining active in the trend of pro boxing. But considering a career in the exhibition roster, Haye can be a tough opponent for several legendary boxers. Thus, it will be wrong to write off ‘Hayemaker’ this fast.
