Anthony Joshua once had the charm and charisma that allowed him to achieve massive popularity. With his boxing chops that made him the heavyweight champion, and his good looks, he attracted the attention of several brands and became a media darling. However, his fate in the heavyweight division changed drastically after he lost consecutive matches against Ukrainian Heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua appeared to have fallen from grace, however, he finally managed to catch a breather from the intense criticism thrown at him by the boxing community, after his recent victory against Jermaine Franklin via unanimous decision.

Now, he has his eyes set on reclaiming his former glory and standing at the top of the heavyweight division once again. With this in mind, Joshua has turned his attention towards a potential fight against ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Deontay Wilder. However, that fight is likely to take place in December in Saudi Arabia. So in the meantime, Joshua wants to keep himself sharp by attempting to set up a fight with British boxer Dillian Whyte. Moreover, he recently pushed the line and wrote some rather unsavory words against Whyte. But the drama doesn’t end here, Eddie Hearn has recently come forward with statements regarding the ongoing negotiations for Joshua vs Whyte bout.

In the midst of the drama, Eddie Hearn did an interview with BBC Sport. The boxing promoter said that both fighters are willing to fight one another. Hearn revealed that AJ plans on fighting two more times this year, once on August 12 and a second time in December against Wilder. He said, “The order was made to Dillian over the weekend. We are waiting for his response to that and we’ll talk today.”

Hearn claimed that there is value for both boxers in the fight. He also talked about how big of a fight this will be for them as two British heavyweights will go toe-to-toe in the ring. Nonetheless, he pointed out the difficulty of the ongoing negotiations, but at the same time, acknowledged that both fighters want the fight to take place.
