Derek Chisora is one fighter in today’s boxing realm who can aptly opine on the upcoming unification fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. And he did exactly that. Recently, the fighter came out to express his thoughts on the historic match-up.

In October 2020, the Wembley Arena saw Chisora being dealt a unanimous decision loss against the Ukrainian fighter, Usyk. Years later, in December last year, he took another scathe in his record. He lost to Fury via a technical knockout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He has gathered his insights from both the fights. And now has his prediction to give for the fight between Usyk and Tyson.

In a conversation with iFL TV, ‘Del Boy War’ said that the upcoming fight between ‘Gypsy King’ and Usyk will be a short-lived affair in the ring. He said, “It’s a short weekend for both the fighters. Yeah? And you know by the time they get to the rhythm and trying to get everything right, it’s going to be hard.” Talking about the significance of the fight, he added, “They’re going through injuries, and they already signed, they already postponed it, so both fighters are going to train hard but who knows man? Who knows? It’s hard to call you know?”

On the 17th of February, both heavyweight champions will clash in a high-profile bout in Riyadh. The fight takes its course after an entire year of back-and-forth negotiations. After Fury won over Chisora last December, he took his fight against Usyk. The latter too was keen on the fight, given the winner of the fight would be crowned the next undisputed heavyweight champion- a title that was last invoked in 1999. However, reports later emerged that Fury was unhappy with the purse splits, leading to the collapse of a contract. Months later, with increasing calls from the boxing realm, a fight emerges on the horizon. However, in the shadows of Fury’s last fight.

Chisora, in the same interview, also claimed that the upcoming February fight would be crucial for the Gypsy King. He sees the need for the WBC champion to emerge further from his Francis Ngannou fight. Chisora added, “Tyson has to gear himself up now. You know, cause his last fight was not great but he won that fight simple, you know? I said to him he was going to get knockdown in the fight and he was going to come back and win the fight. And I think that kind of blows a little bit of his bubble?”
