Legendary boxer Manny Pacquiao is all set to make a comeback in the boxing ring through his Olympic entry in the coming year. The Paris edition of the Olympics will witness the eight-division former world champion enter the squared circle after two years. The fighter hung up his gloves in 2021 after a unanimous decision loss against Yordenis Ugas. The 44-year-old boxer now hopes to enter the international tournament to bring the gold medal for his country.
Ever since he retired from pro boxing, he has participated in some popular exhibition bouts. The last one on this list was his fight against DK Yoo in December last year. However, straying away from his retirement plans from boxing tournaments, he hopes to win big at the coming Paris Olympics. But this has not gone well with a few. Is it fair for someone who is as old as Pacquiao to be allowed to fight in this tournament? Florian Marku, a world champion in the welterweight division, is the recent one to join this discourse but the fight has something else to say.

He said, “ Many people are good amateurs that can beat Pacquiao or whoever in the world. It does not matter. Why? The name is big but there are fighters without the big name that are better than him. “
A major threat to this proposition is the fighter’s age. The qualifier platform for the Olympics, the Asian Games has an age cap of 40 years. The fighter is well past the age. However, it remains to be seen if he gets to fight in the Olympics. Will he be able to represent his country? Most importantly, will he be able to win the gold medal?
