Devin Haney Believes That Vasyl Lomachenko Would Make Their Fight “As Dirty as Possible”

Ahead of his bout with Vasyl Lomachenko on the 5th of May, the current undisputed world lightweight champion, Devin Haney shed light on his opponent’s potential “game plan“. Speaking with Fight Hub TV, the 24-year-old stated what he expected from Lomachenko when the duo shared the ring. In his opinion, the Ukrainian boxer would try to go in there and break ‘The Dream’ down. However, Haney assures he would do the needful.

Haney feels styles make fights and is of the view that Lomachenko would fight ‘dirty’. However, ‘The Dream’ simultaneously understands that he is big and will have a reach advantage over Lomachenko in the ring. Thus, he also assured that he would “break him down” and make him tired in the fight.

Being the shorter fighter in the ring, Lomachenko would have to close in on the distance in order to land his shots on Devin Haney. Speaking about Lomachenko trying to get inside, Haney said, “We got to just see. We know Loma, we know that’s his game plan to get inside try to make it as dirty as possible, try to hit and break, and do things like that.” However, Haney feels he is a strong fighter who is simultaneously big and conditioned and will be able to face Lomachenko’s heat.

But, I’m a strong fighter, I’m big, I’m conditioned, and I’m going there to break him down,” he added. In his opinion, Lomachenko’s game plan is “to go in there and break me down, and try to wait till I get tired and all.” However, the undisputed champion is confident that he won’t allow Lomachenko to execute his plans. “But, I’m gonna go in there and break him down and he’s gonna be tired,” Haney, who slammed Lomachenko for his delusional comments, assured the public.
