Ahead of his bout against George Kambosos, in an interview with FightHype.com, Devin Haney talks about him meeting Canelo Alvarez. His first-ever live interaction with the current super middleweight champ. A surprising event, as Haney likes to refer to it.
Haney, who defines Alvarez as a “hard man to beat”, expresses his utmost delight at being able to meet the same. Of course, Haney knew Alvarez had heard of him. But that Alvarez himself came up to Devin Haney and delivered a sincere message has caught the latter by surprise. “That was my first time ever meeting Canelo.” “I was actually surprised”, explained an overwhelmed Haney. “Like, of course, I knew that he knew me.” “But, he came up to me”. “I think he said, keep up the good work.” “Something of that sort,” added Devin Haney.

Canelo Alvarez, who is scheduled to face Dmitry Bivol in his upcoming fight, is an inspiration to many. And David Haney is no exception. In addition, Alvarez is currently 57-1-2 and in Haney’s assessment just keeps on getting better.

Haney is only 23 years old and likewise treads the path to a promising future. With a convincing record of 27 wins and 0 losses, he heads to take on George Kambosos on June 5. An undefeated rising star in Haney lies the significant potential to be the next big thing.
