Devin Haney Slams Vasyl Lomachenko for His “Delusional” Comments

Devin Haney will be defending his undisputed world lightweight title on May 20th against the Ukrainian boxer, Vasyl Lomachenko. This fight has been awaited for a long time by boxing fans, but it’s finally taking place and now, everybody is very much excited. The boxers are ready to face each other and Lomachenko is coming for the WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF belts of Haney and wants to break his zero-loss record. Recently, Lomachenko talked about his record and his past losses, which garnered a response from Devin Haney.
Notably, Lomachenko has been defeated twice in a total of 19 bouts. He lost his legacy as a unified champion against Teofimo Lopez in 2020, by a unanimous decision. Whereas Haney secured a win in the George Kambosos Jr. rematch, where he justified his undefeated record. But he doesn’t agree with Lomachenko’s recent statements.

Fight Hub TV uploaded an interview clip with Devin Haney, where the reporter asked him about his thoughts on Lomachenko considering himself undefeated in his mind and doesn’t think he’s lost any of the fights of his career.
Devin Haney instantly said, “Delusion. He’s f**king delusional. He lost not once, but twice. Teofimo Lopez beat him clear. The Orlando Salido fight was close, but Teo beat him clear. He’s lost twice and he’s gonna lose again on May 20th.”

Now, Haney respects what he’s done for boxing, but he wants to replace Lomachenko as the best fighter on the list. And he’s also talked about how at one time, he got excited when ‘Loma’ talked about him 4 years ago, and now he’s the world champion and will be standing against him inside the ring.

In the interview, ‘The Dream’ recalled the time when 4 years ago, his dad told him that ‘Loma’ talked about him in one of the interviews. And Haney stated that now it feels good to stand in a position where he’s the Champion and to defend the belts against him.
Haney said, “It feels good that now he’s the challenger, I’m the Champion. I’m the favorite to win. And uhh Imma show him that I was everything then and I’m everything now.”

It’s definitely going to be an exciting fight, as this fight was supposed to happen in 2019, but ‘Loma’ didn’t give Haney a shot. But now, Devin Haney has proved himself to become a worthy opponent for Lomachenko, so the fight is backed up by a great back story, that every boxing fan loves and craves.
