As Devin Haney prepares for his upcoming clash with Regis Prograis on December 9th, he has tactfully brushed aside any notions of rivalry with fellow pugilist Ryan Garcia. Haney is opting to focus on the bout that aligns best with his career trajectory. When asked about the desire to square off against Garcia, Haney replied, “Of course, that’s the fight that Eddie wants to make. We got to see so many big fights out there 135, 140.”

He added, “We got to see what aligns, but it all starts with December 9th with me and Regis Prograis, me being victorious. Insha’Allah, once I come out victorious, then we’ll see. Yeah, it just comes down to what make sense, those are two huge fights. Obviously Teofimo has more legacy belts or whatever, but I also already got belts at 135. Ofcourse I want to get more belts but, right now it’s what makes the most sense for me.” It seems Haney is more interested in a fight against Lopez than Garcia.

Prograis’ trainer disregards Haney’s previous victories

Regis Prograis’ strength and conditioning coach, Evins Tobler, has expressed his doubts about Haney’s capabilities in the chin and power departments. He suggested that Haney is headed for a loss in the upcoming match-up. According to Tobler, when Haney will challenge for the WBC light welterweight title the truth will be there for all to see. Tobler believes that Haney, the undisputed lightweight champion has built his career on inflated wins against mostly mediocre opponents during his eight-year professional journey.

Tobler asserted, “Sometimes you can see in a man’s soul, and in this case, you know deep down inside, Haney doesn’t have it.” Should Haney suffer a defeat in this fight, he is likely to return to the lightweight division, where he has held the undisputed championship.
