Chantelle Cameron might be on the lookout for a new promotions company to continue her run in the boxing world. In recent news, the former undisputed light-welterweight champion has been released by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. The move by the British promote has, however, not gone down too well with fans.

In November last year, Cameron, 32, was defeated by Katie Taylor, another prospect of Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing. Seeking revenge after her May loss to Chantelle Cameron, Katie Taylor secured another reign with a decisive win in their rematch. Both Taylor and Cameron, under the same promotional banner, delivered a thrilling fight for the undisputed title. However, Taylor’s future now looks brighter with her already bagging a high-profile bout against Amanda Serrano on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight next month. This has led some to criticize promoter Eddie Hearn for potentially neglecting Cameron’s path forward.

On X, the promotions company stated, “We reached an agreement last month to release Chantelle Cameron from her promotional deal… We would like to wish Chantelle all the best in her future endeavours.” Boxing insider, iFL TV too shared the news on their Instagram handle.

Cameron aka II Capo is an 18-1 record holder and has no fight scheduled. She became a part of the Matchroom stable in July 2020, later winning her first title 3 months into the contract. She unified the division against Jessica McCaskill in 2022. Cameron became the first boxer from England to hold all four recognized world titles. While a trilogy matchup with Taylor was on the horizon, the latter chose to fight Amanda Serrano, unintentionally bashing Cameron’s chances at redemption and a possible title fight this year. This might be one of the reasons that prompted Matchroom to make the decision.

However, fans are now furious with her former promoter.

Did Eddie Hearn Do Wrong By Chantelle Cameron?

Most fans are of the opinion that the promoter made a calculated move by letting Cameron lose her titles to Taylor and later removing her from the stables. One fan wrote, “Eddie did her dirty they took her belts and kicked her to the curb.” Now that Taylor is still with Hearn, the titles remain in his company. On the same page, another user wrote, “Matchroom are a joke, used her for the belts then ditched her.”

Then came a user with words blazing at Hearn. They called out the promoter for his supposed unfairness and expressed how they did not expect the deed from him. They wrote, “That’s a naughty movement there @eddiehearn only Sing when you’re winning. Come on, man thought you were better than that.”

Another user was in awe of the fighter. They debated that she was better than Taylor and that Hearn used her. They remarked, “Much better than Katie Taylor… Eddie just used her… what a shame… Taylor is not the best female boxer I guarantee you that.”

Then came a user who did not hold the promoter at fault. They argued that Cameron priced herself out and prompted Taylor to go against Serrano. They noted, “She priced herself out and lost the fight to Serrano. Unfortunate but it happens, then blamed Eddie and everyone else for a change.”
