It’s been ten days since the reality series ‘Dancing on Ice, 2024’ kicked off. Last Sunday, one of the contestants received the first send-off. Unfortunately, it turned out to be boxing’s own former world champion, Ricky Hatton.

Now, footage of Hatton has been gaining attention ever since it went online yesterday. It shows him wearing roller skates and enjoying a glass of beer in a pub. iFL TV‘s post that carries the clip, sourced from the Original Supporters Club based out of Alkrington in Manchester, reads, “Ricky Hatton back to his best after getting voted off Dancing On Ice last weekend.” Soon, a few fans and followers joined in with their views. But first, how did the dancing on ice literally go for the former world champion?

The clip shows Ricky Hatton taking a sip and then veering off towards the washroom. But it seemed like he was not himself. As he neared the restroom, he tripped and fell flat on the run, much to the utter amusement of those sitting around the big table.

Last week, viewers watching the sixteenth season of the ITV network’s ‘Dancing on Ice’ saw Ricky Hatton perform with his skate partner. He and his dance partner found themselves competing with Team Lou Saunders in the ‘Skate-Off’. As it eventually happened, it was the boxing champion’s turn to check out.

Talking about his exit from ‘Dancing on Ice’, he said, “I’m gutted to be going home. Yeah, I’ve tried to be a winner all my life in everything I’ve done. It’s been a while since I saw the second round. I think I will carry on skating….I’d like to thank Robin for all her hard work and the coaches.

Understandably, ‘The Hitman’ and his pro-skater Robin Johnstone picked the ‘Rocky’ theme of Bill Conti‘s composition ‘Gonna Fly High’ to showcase their talent. But unfortunately, they could barely make an impression on either the judges or the voters, whose decisions have an equal impact.

However, his presence in the pub definitely received a big thumbs-up from all fans and followers.

The first time’s out, the second time’s – a fall

A voiceover was audible, announcing Hatton’s feats. So when they said, ‘three times world champion’, the Mancunian immediately corrected that it’s “four.”

Appreciating the boxer’s funny side, on a lighthearted note, the following user expressed a desire to join Ricky Hatton for a drink.

The next user seemed annoyed that ‘The Hitman’ barely got a chance to enjoy the Guinness!

This fan called Rickey Hatton an ‘absolute legend’.

This user highlighted how Hatton frequents the Spanish island of Tenerife. Most of the time, he came across as a very down-to-earth, humble person.

Then this follower still remembers accompanying Hatton to see one of the league cup finals.

Clearly, nothing delights fans more than watching one of their icons enjoy himself and let their hair down once in a while.

It’s been over a decade since the Manchester-born two-division champion retired from active boxing. In his prime, he fought some of the biggest names in modern boxing. It included the epics against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. Post-retirement years saw him take up training assignments as well as dabbling as a boxing promoter.
