David Morrell turned out to be a messiah for an ignorant fan, who had his guard up and was in a fighting position to throw a punch against Erickson Lubin. The tense incident unfolded at a casino, where a Devin Haney-ish incident could have taken place. But the Cuban fighter’s cool head prevailed over the hotheadedness of others.

A video of Morrell, 26, jumping in the middle of the heated argument, is making rounds on the internet as he sweeps and takes the former WBC silver super welterweight champion Lubin, 28, away from the quarrying fan. This amusing action of Morrell, at 11-0, impressed the fans, as they heaped praise on him.

In the viral clip, the fans could witness Morrell slowly walking to the spot where people were gathering up, as a drunk fan confronted Lubin. The chaos was attracting people. However, as Lubin was about to take an extreme step, Morrell grabbed him and walked away from the scene along with him.

The WBA (Regular) light-heavyweight champion’s smart but useful tactic de-escalated the situation and stopped it before it got ugly. The fans then flooded the comment section as they discussed the incident.

Fans call Morrell the friend they need

One fan pointed out how a woman accompanying the drunk fan was shouting at the top of her lungs to let Lubin go when Morrell grabbed Lubin and took him away. They declared, “Guess the yelling br*ad saying “let him go” didn’t know her dude was about to get ktfo.” It seems no one knew who they were actually arguing with, and the possibility of Lubin knocking out the drunk fan was high.

A user hilariously drew parallels between Lubin’s zeal to engage with a fan to take a fight with Tim Tszyu. They noted, “Lubin fighting everybody except ..NVM🤦🏾‍♂️.” Notably, IBF had declared a title eliminator between Lubin and Tszyu, but ‘The Hammer’ pulled out of the scheduled fight.

Someone shed light on growing incidents of scuffles between fans and boxers. Advising the aggressive fans, they announced, “Fans gotta stop playing wit these boxers cause it’s a problem if they lay yo a*s out 🤦🏽‍♂️.” Most recently, Devin Haney seized headlines after getting involved in an altercation with a fan at the Orange County Fair.
