Renowned for his Derring-do, the former WAND-TV reporter, Scot England, is set to elevate his adventurous spirit to a new level on December 5 by stepping into an actual boxing ring. This foray will make him the oldest professional Welterweight boxer globally in his debut fight, showcasing an admirable blend of courage and ambition. His daring exploits extend beyond the boxing arena, as evident from his previous career in television.

Notably, he willingly subjected himself to a stun gun demonstration by the police in Decatur, a memorable visual pursuit that garnered widespread attention. His resilience was further highlighted when he rode a raging bull for public entertainment, enduring cracked ribs and an unbeknownst spine fracture. Now, his boxing fight will also be another addition to the list.

Scot England has an important message for his fans

Facing the challenge of becoming the oldest professional Welterweight boxer, the 59-year-old England exudes resilience despite the considerable odds. His upcoming opponent, Jashawn Hunter, at a mere 22 years old, brings youth, strength, speed, experience, and a longer reach to the ring.

England, undeterred and sporting a black eye from recent sparring with much younger fighters, acknowledges the stark differences with a smile. He mentioned it in the start saying, “Hey friend, Scot England here disregard the black eye. It’s just makeup trust me.” He also added, “Can you believe that the old TV guy and all the crazy things I did on TV and now after all these years, I’m doing that stepping into the ring? I’ve been training for quite a few years.

So, he’s already prepared for the worst, as he stated, “And we’ll see how it goes. So cheer me on maybe say a little prayer. December 5th, the guy I’m taking on is 22 years old but I think we can do it.” England loves to put himself in adverse situations, however, there was a situation that he adored a lot. That is when he met ‘The Greatest’.

Growing up with an ardent admiration for the legendary Muhammad Ali, England’s connection with the late heavyweight champion transcended mere fandom. Their friendship blossomed to the extent that England and his wife, Jayne, chose to honor Ali by naming their daughter Alison, affectionately known as Ally.

Recalling a poignant moment, England shared, “The first time I walked into Ali’s living room he said to me ‘Are you a boxer?’ And I said ‘No, champ, I am not tough enough for that.’” This personal connection to the iconic fighter adds a profound layer to England’s journey into the boxing ring.
