Eddie Hearn Reveals Anthony Joshua Is Risking a Lot of Money to Fight Dillian Whyte

Anthony Joshua will fight again before his rumored fight against Deontay Wilder. The Briton has been searching for an opponent to face him inside the boxing ring since he returned against Jermaine Franklin in April. The former two-time unified Heavyweight champion has been eager to step foot in the ring again. And, a fight for him has been finally finalized. AJ is scheduled to fight Dillian White on August 12. This fight has not been free of its troubles of finalization. However, Eddie Hearn has revealed what Joshua is putting on the line to fight Whyte.
The Saudi deal between Wilder and Joshua is rumored to be a monetary goldmine for the two. And, with so much money on the line, Hearn spoke about the risk the 33-year-old will be exposing himself to when he steps foot inside the boxing ring to fight his UK counterpart. With almost a month left before the fight, the Heavyweight’s promoter has opened up about a risk.

The Matchroom promoter recently gave a telephonic interview to TalkSport and spoke about the Heavyweight landscape. While focusing mainly on Joshua’s fight with Whyte, he painted a picture of what’s on the line for the former two-time champ in this fight. He also mentioned how it poses a threat to the Saudi deal with Wilder.
Hearn said, “No. We’ve been told categorically that the deal on the table is not the deal if he loses to Whyte.” The promoter also spoke about how adamant Joshua was to fight Whyte even though it meant risking the payday with Wilder.

Talking about the Wilder fight, he added, “He’s going to make an absolute fortune to fight Deontay Wilder, but he wants to risk it all against Dillian Whyte because he loves the excitement, he loves the thrill.” Hearn believes that with Usyk defending his titles against Dubois, the dry spell is finally getting better in the Heavyweight division. He added, “he’s got a huge fight on August 12, and if he wins that, he’s got Deontay Wilder, what a six months that would be for him.”

Joshua’s adamancy to fight Whyte is a testament to his confidence after making his comeback.
