Social media has opened a Pandora’s box. A few years ago, approaching a celebrity, a top-tier one at that, would have been unimaginable for mere mortals. Now, a few clicks away, an interview or a casual conversation is easy to arrange. But the chances of a meeting turning sour and escalating in full public view have added another dimension to this modern comfort.

Brian Davis, aka True Geordie, is a popular podcaster based out of Newcastle upon Tyne in England. Earlier known as FootballFan533, he started gaining popularity through a video on one of the footballers from his hometown. Through his podcast, True Geordie,  interviews a slew of celebrities from varied fields, getting their views and opinions.

True Geordie leave Tyson Fury(ous)

The guest in his latest episode was the WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. During their discussion, Geordie checked with the Gypsy King on whether he would prefer facing high-caliber boxers like Antony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk instead of ‘longing around’ with someone like Derek Chisora.

The point rubbed the champion the wrong way and flared up immediately. He said, “No matter what you say or what people like you want to say about Derek Chisora, he’s achieved more in boxing, and fighting than ten men like you could ever achieve. So I’m not going to just let you sit here and slate somebody who’s fought the best fighters of this era just because he’s lost a few fights“.

It is what it is. I’ll be fighting Chisora … and if you don’t want to watch it then please don’t.”

Unsatisfied with the response, the podcaster continued the same line of questions. Finally, fed up, the Mancunian champion riled up and left the interview in a huff throwing shots of expletives on True Geordie.

A bewildered boxing community reacted!

Fans rallied behind the champion.

Some scathing criticisms were also on-board.
