On December 10 last year, at Omaha’s CHI Health Center, Terence Crawford knocked out European welterweight champion David Avanesyan in the sixth round. But that was not the fight every boxing fan wanted to see. Instead, when it comes to the welterweight, the unanimous viewership wants to see Crawford facing-off long-time rival Errol Spence Jr.

The 147 lbs. division has some of the most outstanding fighters the boxing world has ever seen. Littered with names like Errol Spence Jr., Terence Crawford, Yordenis Ugas, Conor Benn, Keith Thurman, and Jaron Ennis, to name a few, there’s hardly any division that could boast such a talent pool. But what it lacks is an undisputed world champion. Hence the clamoring for the Crawford – Spence Jr. fight. Where talks on the fights could have been more receptive, accusations and denouncements have overtaken the narrative.

The five feet six inches tall Californian started his professional journey in 2004. In a fourteen-year career, he fought thirty-seven times, out of which he won thirty-three. Thirteen of his wins came via knockouts. However, the Ring magazine’s bests pound-for-pound boxer of 2013 is primarily known for his trilogy fights against living legend Manny Pacquiao.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, which is now available on YouTube, Bradley Jr. said, “Man, Errol Spence is running from (Terence) Crawford. “He running like a son of a gun. That’s the only fight that you said you wanted; that’s the fight that you said you were gonna deliver to the fans after you won the three titles. It’s been a long time. You straight up lied.”

Why go to 154 lbs. when there are plenty of hands at 147?

“The Desert Storm’s” lamentations come in the backdrop of news that Spence Jr. is taking on former unified Welterweight champion Keith Thurman at 154 lbs.

Thirty-four-year-old Thurman, after the defeat at the hands of Pacquiao on July 20, 2019, returned to ring after nearly three years of break. He fought and won against Mario Barrios on February 5 last year with a unanimous decision.

So when he heard the Spence Jr. – Thurman confrontation, it caught Bradley off guard. More so when in the past, as per ESPN, Spence Jr. said, “I want Terence Crawford; that’s the fight that I want. “That’s the fight everybody else wants. … Terence, I’m coming for that belt!”

Bradley continued, “How the hell you gonna go up to 54 and then come back down to 147 pounds to face Crawford? Isn’t one of your brothers that’s in camp with you at 54 as well? You just going up there for what? Thurman can’t make the weight, or is it you that can’t make the weight? Maybe it’s both of y’all can’t make the weight.”

It remains unclear whether Spence will give up his three welterweight titles in favor of a super welterweight / junior middleweight campaign.

Perplexed by the entire affair, “The Desert Storm” clearly doesn’t want to see any other fight than the Crawford – Spence Jr. face-off.
