Errol Spence Jr Reveals His “Tim Duncan” Advantage Over Terence Crawford

As the days go by, the date of the bout between two kingpins of the Welterweight division Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford draws closer. The fight is finally manifesting after years of fans practically begging the fighters. While Crawford will be looking to enter the legendary status after he becomes a three-division champion, Spence Jr. will be looking forward to defending his title and proving himself as the top fighter in the division.

So far ‘The Truth’ has not had a fight where he had to channel his entire potential and as such he seems to have found the perfect rival in ‘Bud.’ Moreover, Spence Jr. also acknowledges Crawford’s caliber as a boxer. This recently led him to compare their competitiveness to the rivalry between two extremely accomplished NBA champions.

Errol Spence Jr. recently did an interview with Dallas Cowboys, Danny shared the video on his Twitter account. In the clip, a reporter asked Spence Jr. about what according to him, puts him over in the fight against Terrence Crawford. Spence Jr. said that he considers himself better than ‘Hunter’ when it comes to strength and durability.

“I feel like I am the stronger fighter, I feel like I am more durable. Especially if we stand there and go at each other, I just feel like, I got the better fundamentals.”

He then went ahead and compared himself with NBA legend Timothy Duncan. Moreover, the unified welterweight world champion stated that he has got all the fundamentals down whether it’s jabs, hooks or blocking, etc. Thus, he believes that overall he comes out as the better fighter with the wide array of skills that he possesses. Errol also acknowledged ‘Bud’ and said that “Bud has a lot of talent and skills he can move.” That is indeed the case and the most worrying thing ‘The Truth’ will have to look out for. Even boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya believes that Spence Jr. will not be able to touch Crawford. However, Spence Jr. certainly seems confident in his ability.

Moreover, according to rumors, he had once wished Duncan “Happy Mother’s Day, M****rf****r”. Duncan had lost his mother when he was just 14 to breast cancer. Their rivalry went hand in hand with their mutual respect for one another, and they even appeared in commercials together. Spence Jr. comparing himself and ‘Bud’ with these two is an indication towards their fierce rivalry. In this way arguably, he is Crawford and also a legend in boxing.
