Finally, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will share the ring on February 17th, 2024 with the Undisputed Heavyweight title on the line. In Fury’s opinion, the bout is “the fight of the century” and he must dominate Usyk to establish that ‘The Gypsy King’ is greatly different from the British boxers Usyk has beaten in the ring.

Despite Fury’s statements, a certain section of the boxing world believes that Usyk will overpower Fury. According to them, since ‘The Gyspsy King’ struggled with Francis Ngannou, Usyk would certainly put Fury in a fix. In this context, as IFL TV recently interviewed Evander Holyfield, ‘The Real Deal’ predicted the winner of Uysk vs. Fury.

After Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou in Riyadh, Evander Holyfield declared Fury’s performance “wasn’t a great one” in the ring. And although he appreciated him getting up after the knockdown, Holyfield admitted that he never thought Ngannou would lay his hands on Fury. In this connection, given Fury’s boxing against Francis, Holyfield believes Oleksandr Usyk is more likely to become the Undisputed Heavyweight champion since ‘The Cat’ has better qualities.

It’s going to be a tough fight for both. Even though I think Usyk will win,” announced Holyfield confidently. “Because for one thing, he is a tough fighter. He doesn’t give up and he [is] quicker. I don’t think Tyson Fury would be able to compete with how many punches he gonna throw,” ‘The Real Deal’ explained.

Following the above declaration, Holyfield, who recently revealed the current face of boxing, was asked how he would perform against the contemporary heavyweight boxers in the sport.

Holyfield’s era to overpower the current era of the Heavyweights?

According to Holyfield, who competed from 1984 to 2011, his era had better boxers. In his opinion, the fighters he faced were stronger and more competitive. As a result, although he appreciated the skills the contemporary boxers demonstrated, he believed his era would overpower the current era of the Heavyweights in boxing.

Likewise, in an honest statement, he said, “I don’t think their era is better than ours because we had more Olympians who came out and did really well. So, I think our era was just a stronger era. And that had a lot to do with how great the amateurs are.” With that said, if you had to match Holyfield up against one contemporary heavyweight boxer, who would it be? I feel combat sports is a representation of life inside a cage or ring. There is fear, struggle, and the will to be free. It has a poetic quality.
