A proud father to five, Mayweather added one more feather to his cap when he became a grandfather to Kentrell Jr. in 2021. His daughter, Iyana, was twenty-one when she gave birth to rapper NBA Young’s child.

Invited by hip-hop and rap-centered podcast Daily Loud, Floyd Mayweather spoke at length about the new addition to his pride sometime in February this year. The hosts quizzed The Money about the change in his familial status. Probably a curiosity about the personal life of the best defensive boxer in history.

Welcoming the question, Mayweather then explained how he was proud of his daughter Yaya despite being just twenty-one, probably an age too early for motherhood. Proceeding further, he exhibited an understanding of his grandchild’s father, NBA YoungBoy, “I’m proud of her I’m proud of NBA young boy um very very talented uh young kid um one of the biggest artists… I Like him, you know just like my just like one of my sons; look at him just like one of my sons…”

At the same, he couldn’t hide a fatherly concern when he wished for the safety of YoungBoy—citing examples of instances where young musicians went out of control resulting in most uncalled-for fatalities.

She has been in an on-off relationship with rapper Kentrell DeSean Gaulden or, more popularly, NBA YoungBoy since 2018.
