Jesse Ferguson is a celebrated heavyweight who had a decade-long career and fought many notable names like Mike Tyson. The people nicknamed Ferguson as the ‘Boogeyman’ due to his frightening presence in the ring. After having served in the military, Ferguson took up an amateur boxing career securing thirteen straight wins.

He would later go on to suffer his first loss against one of Tyson’s foes Carl Williams. Perhaps it was fate that put Ferguson against Tyson. His fight against Tyson would come in February of 1986 in what became Tyson’s first-ever televised fight. Later in his career, he would go on to fight many of Tyson’s dance partners like Lennox Lewis and Razor Ruddock. Before his fight with Tyson, Ferguson in an interview, talked confidently of his plans to win against Tyson. Jesse Ferguson wanted to go toe-to-toe with Mike Tyson

In the interview, Ferguson stated how he planned to use his experience to out-maneuver Tyson. He said, “I plan on fighting back using my experience, my bread and butter punches and left hook and keep him at bay.” According to Ferguson, he wanted to face Tyson head-on which he claimed nobody had done till then. He mentions, “I don’t want to run from him, I wanna stay there and fight him cause nobody has done that and see how he reacts.”

Ferguson went on to say how he can get the best of Mike Tyson in the later rounds and defeat him eventually. But, as Mike Tyson says, “Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the face” All of Ferguson’s plans went down the drain when he faced Tyson. While he did hold out for six rounds, in the end, Tyson emerged victorious. Fans took to the comments to react to the resurfaced interview clip. Let us see what they had to say.

In the clip of Ferguson sharing his game plan, fans reacted to the results of the match.

One fan mocked Ferguson saying, “That’s some game plan champ.” 

Another referenced the former heavyweight champion’s quote by saying, “Everybody’s got a face until Mike hits it with his game plan.” stating how Tyson’s plans conquered almost everyone.

“How smooth Mike was…” said one user complimenting Tyson’s performance in the bout scoring a TKO win.

One more fan commented, “Everyone has a plan..” stating how all plans fail before Tyson.

One fan simply hyped the legend saying, “IRON MIKE”

Almost every fan seemed to agree that defeating Tyson is not something that can be done with just a planned approach. Throughout the years, the legacy of Mike Tyson continues to grow more and more as the younger audience finds out more about his initial professional fights.
