Come March 25, Caleb Plant will try to redeem his name as one of the generation’s most formidable boxers. Though the victory against Anthony Dirrell brought a respite from questions on his performance, only a win against a top shot such as David Benavidez could ensure him a place that affords him a chance to face Canelo Alvarez once again eventually. Recent press conferences have livened up the atmosphere, and given the bitter feud between the camps, the fight night gives every sign of a high-strung bout. Amidst the preparations, individual teams are making it up to the fans and followers through various social media channels.

Yesterday, Showtime Boxing shared a short training footage of Caleb Plant. The boxer’s voice could be heard in the background where he’s discussing about his motivations and, of course, his opponent, David Benavidez. The caption of the post read, “@calebplant’s not cocky, just confident.”

Fans react to Plant’s training video

A fan named @oscarrr_victory referred to Canelo Alvarez’s two defeats at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Dmitry Bivol. They said, “Everyone talking about Plant’s loss forgets that Canelo isn’t undefeated either. You can have all the talent in the world and still lose. You can lose and still be great; a lot of the all-time greats have defeats. How you fight, who you fight, and how you carry yourself is what makes a fighter great. Not their record.”

For a fan named @tykirrr, Caleb Plant seems to be the favorite. They said, “I like Plant; he’s definitely in my top 5. I think he can beat David; honestly bc he’s not that good. David got no defense. It’s gonna be a split decision win for Plant.

@chavezjoseph_ believes that an in-form Caleb Plant is a stand-out boxer, probably among the best in the world. They commented, “When Caleb is on, he’s one of the best boxers in the world. He does a lot of things like Floyd. I think David is too overconfident he thinks he’s just gonna go in there and kill him, but if Caleb’s footwork, IQ, and boxing ability is on point, it’s gonna be a long night for David.

However, @sxp100k feels that Plant should have had similar confidence when he faced Canelo Alvarez in 2021. “Should’ve had that mindset when he fought Canelo 🤷🏿‍♂️,” they said.
