Melissia Brim, the former girlfriend of Floyd Mayweather Jr., took to Instagram, to showcase an old clip where the former world champion is seen talking about the fight he won. To many, the end of a relationship means complete closure. But, unfortunately, it is often relegated to minimalist communication or, at its worst, none.

However, Brim, a successful entrepreneur, and mother of Mayweather Jr.’s daughter Iyanna Mayweather has always displayed the courage to go against the grain. She took time and talked about a person with whom she shared some fond memories once upon a time.

Floyd Mayweather Jr., from an era bygone

The record on the clip displays Mayweather Jr.’s stats at nineteen wins against nil loss or draw with fifteen wins through knockouts. Hence presumably, the interview occurred after his second-round technical win over Puerto Rican Angel Manfredy. The fight happened on December 19, 1998, at Miami, Florida’s Miccosukee Resort and Gaming. Mayweather Jr. was defending his first world title, which he won barely two months ago on October 3. A ‘Young macc,‘ had posted the clip. Addressing Melissia Brim, he said, “@melissiarene ’90s was different. We had fun back then, lol.”

In the clip, during a post-fight interview in the ring, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is asked, “Congratulations Floyd. Did you think he was defenseless on the ropes when you were pummeling him?The latter immediately responded, saying, Well, obviously, I wasn’t pummeling. I would say I was tossing. Combinations. And he wasn’t responding back.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Melissia Brim reportedly met in the 90s. On May 20, 2000, their daughter Iyanna Mayweather was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. Incidentally, through an earlier relationship, Brim was already a mother to a boy, Devion Cromwell, whom Mayweather later adopted. Unfortunately, the couple went their separate ways soon after their daughter’s birth.

However, apart from caring for their daughter, Mayweather Jr. reportedly supported Brim financially. Though not together anymore, they respect each other. In fact, to their pleasant amusement, fans often come across pics of Mayweather Jr. and Brim, along with their grandchild Kentrell Gaulden Jr.
