After the stunning second-round KO victory over Francis Ngannou in March this year, Anthony Joshua is now preparing to fight the winner of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk. On the 18th of May in Saudi Arabia, for the undisputed Heavyweight title, Usyk and Fury will lock horns. Therefore, facing the winner of Usyk vs. Fury, the former two-time unified Heavyweight champion, ‘AJ’ will have a chance to lay his hands on the undisputed Heavyweight title. Likewise, the British boxer is training hard with Ben Davison.
As Paulie Malignaggi had said, Joshua is more confident with Davison by his side. And the 34-year-old has improved significantly since Davison started training Joshua for the Otto Wallin fight. But now, Joshua almost ended up knocking out Davison in the ring!
In his last fight, Joshua demonstrated how technique combined with power could deliver an excellent blow. After the second knockdown when Francis Ngannou got up, with a look of defeat on his face already, Joshua landed a vicious cross to put the former’s lights out.

Now, training with Davison, ‘AJ’ hit him with almost a similar cross he used against Ngannou. After a jab to the stomach, Joshua fired a cross to Davison’s head which grazed the latter’s chin. But, unlike Ngannou, Davison, who has trained the likes of Tyson Fury, Billy Joe Saunders, and Josh Taylor among others, stood his ground.
On that note, after talkSPORT correspondent Michael Benson shared the clip on X, several fans reacted to it. Some even exaggerated that Davison had a better chin than Ngannou and Fury. Here is what they said!
Ben Davison endures a frightening cross by Anthony Joshua like it’s nothing
After Anthony Joshua split with Derrick James and hired Ben Davison as his trainer, Tyson Fury told The Stomping Ground that it was “a good link-up“. In his opinion, as Davison is “a fun guy to be around,” Joshua should have hired Ben “years ago“. Anyway, after Davison endured Joshua’s cross, fans thought about the time Deontay Wilder and Francis Ngannou knocked down Tyson Fury. As a result, one said, “Better chin than Fury.”
