Jake Paul is all set to face his former sparring partner Hasim Rahman Jr. in a spectacular showdown on August 6, 2022. Meanwhile, he has also made claims of beating Rahman Jr. during a session. However, a newly leaked training video shows Rahman Jr. downing Paul while sparring.

A recently released video showed Rahman Jr. engaged in a mitt session with his trainer. But a rather intriguing Easter egg in the video caught the eye of boxing fans. The screen in the background was playing an old video of a sparring session between Paul and Rahman Jr.

Rahman Jr. was seen donning a black tee and red tights. Meanwhile, Paul was in a black tee and shorts. The duo was seen slowly pacing around while throwing jabs. Towards the end of the video, Paul was seen keeling over on the canvas after getting hit.

Notably, it is worth pondering if Rahman Jr. sneakily played the video in the background, in hopes of fans noticing.

Another user, Sarim Anwer Mufti, was surprised by the hate that Rahman Jr. was receiving while Paul was the one who was disrespectful. The user said, “I don’t get the hate for hasim and NOT for jake wth. Dude’s been humble and appreciative of the opportunities he’s been given. On the other hand, everyone wants jake to win who’s been disrespectful all the way .”

On the other hand, user Fat Boy mentioned, “They just need to drop the sparring footage already.”

But, user Decatur Que was quick to appreciate Rahman Jr. for not making a big deal of the incident. The user said, “I get why he didn’t make a big deal out of that. It’s sparring. Like how they handled this, though. Sparring footage being used in training is reasonable, lol. Especially with the mess Jake been talking.”

However, the user also mentioned that Paul has a higher chance of winning.

Paul receives support from fans

A few were quick to show support to Paul after the sparring incident.

User mrbo0gus backed Paul up by saying that fighters can make major improvements in 2 to 3 years. The user said, “This is called learning. Even if he got dropped it’s been 2 to 3 years, anything can happen now. Honestly I wanna see Jake win. I wanna see him improve.”

Meanwhile, user Anthony Kneip III stated that it was not clear if Rahman Jr. actually downed Paul. He said, “As much as I’d love to say that video shows us something useful, the fact that just before Hasim moved out of the way we saw Jake sparring one second, then we see him crouched doesn’t explain anything about what went down, nor why.”

Similarly, user Elijah Byrd also mentioned that Rahman Jr. might not have downed Paul. He said, “It could have been end of round and he just crouched down because he was tired then got back up. You never actually see rahman drop him.”

Additionally, user Yafay Azeem felt that getting beaten up during sparring sessions will pave way to becoming a better boxer. The user said, “He’s literally crouched just like how gib was against Jake, and believe it’s good you’re getting beat up in sparring that improves you way more for fights in the ring, even Mayweather once got schooled by someone in sparring.”

While it is not clear if Paul was actually downed by Rahman Jr. or was merely kneeling down, it just makes the anticipation for the bout a lot more interesting.
