Danny Garcia didn’t have an easy year, to say the least. The American boxer’s personal and professional life witnessed several jolts amidst some rays of hope. Because of it, he lost his spirit as a fighter, which earlier motivated him and kept him going. His emotional outburst detailing his hardships resonates with many pros, as they rallied to support him.

Garcia, 36, took to his Instagram handle and shared some glimpses of his year. In addition, he penned a moving caption, detailing what he went through throughout the year. The former world champion pointed out the year’s biggest tragedy came when his father had a stroke this year. Besides, he admitted how he was blessed with a son, but his father’s health deteriorated. Garcia, at 37-4, also posted pictures of his father on a hospital bed, his newborn baby, and him taking a knee in the ring when he fought Erislandy Lara this September.

The caption read, “2024 my spirit was tested. My father had a stroke and suddenly the things that used to motivated me weren’t the the same anymore. I tried to fight through it but my spirit of a fighter wasn’t there. God gave me my beautiful son but took apart of my father’s health away.”

“This years was a bunch of highs and lows for me but i still wake up everyday with a smile on my face. The joy wouldn’t feel so good if it wasn’t for the pain.”

Lastly, ‘Swift’ promised fans that he will be back mentally, spiritually, and physically stronger next year. His honest confession invited many pros to the comment section, as they lent their support to him and prayed for him.

Boxing legend Antonio Tarver wished the Garcia family happy holidays and prayed for his father’s full recovery. He wrote, “Happy Holidays to the Garcia’s 🎁🎄 praying for a full recovery ❤‍🩹 Angel 🙏🏾” Garcia’s father, Angel, introduced him to boxing and doubled up as his coach. He also used to be a constant presence in his corner and did the same when he fought Lara for the WBA middleweight title.

A.J. Brown, the NFL wide receiver, called Garcia a true champion. He declared, “True champion of Life” Garcia didn’t give up despite these struggles; he showcased his mental fortitude and fought back, as suggested by the post’s caption itself. Edgar Berlanga hoped for God’s blessings for Garcia. He commented, “God bless you king ❤” Garcia might stay away from the boxing ring for a while, as he would prefer to spend time with his ailing father and newborn son.

Emilio Vargas also reacted and dropped a praying hand emoji. His comment read, “🙏🏾” The fans are not sure of Garcia’s future, as they might see him spending substantial time with his family now, after putting his body on the line for over 17 years. In addition, his corner had to throw in the towel in the fight against Lara, which puts a larger question on his career as a boxer.

Lastly, Rasheed Bailey, the NFL wide receiver, also hoped for the well-being of the Garcia family. He also responded with multiple praying hand emojis: “🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾” Garcia is now blessed with 3 kids—two elder daughters and a younger son.
