Beyond captivating millions with his elegant moves in the boxing ring, the multi-talented Floyd Mayweather Jr. dazzled audiences with his slick dance moves as well. However, unbeknownst to many, the undefeated former champion enjoys considerable prowess in one more activity: roller-blade skating.

Apparently, Mayweather Jr. is the proud owner of a rink in Las Vegas. He frequently shares clips showing him unwinding with family and friends at his favorite haunt. A few years ago, there were reports of him having a blast of time blading his friend, music icon Usher. Seemingly, the Grammy-winning R&B artist even got the better of the boxer in a roller skating race. Is there truth in it? Better still, setting aside the race aspect, when it comes to skills, who holds the upper hand between the two? When bombarded with the question, Mayweather Jr. finally decided to let the cat out of the bag.

In boxing, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the king, but in skating, another king, ‘Ushers’ in

The revelation came as ‘The Money’ started describing his day-to-day schedule. Fred Taylor had raised the question when the boxing legend appeared on their popular podcast, ‘The Pivot’. The former NFL running back was visibly impressed when Floyd Mayweather Jr. took them around his residence the last time they visited. “What’s the day the day-to-day like off-camera behind the scenes? What do you do on a day-to-day like just as a normal human being bro?” Taylor asked.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. then started explaining how he has to go through different requirements, both personal and business-related. That’s when the words ‘skating rink’ slipped from his lips.

He said, “I wanted to have a freak nik skate gym at my skating rink, Skate Rock City, just something different… I reached out to Usher.” Taylor immediately jumped, asking the million-dollar question, “I was going to ask you that I got it in my note right here who the better skater bro. You might be the better athlete, but I think Usher will skate you out the goddamn rink.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. admitted without hesitation that Usher was the more skilled skater among the two of them. “Well, well, I think Usher is absolutely. I think he’s a better skater, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely…

Perhaps that should put the innocuous debate to rest. But then there’s also a clip of the two friends enjoying a game of table tennis. However, there, the boxer reportedly ran rings around the ace musician-dancer.

Reportedly, it was sometime in 2021 that Floyd Mayweather Jr. bought the erstwhile Boulder Highway-located Crystal Palace roller skating facility. For the 25,900-square-foot property built in 1986, which he later renamed Skate Rock City, he shelled out around $4.5 million, it seems.
