Haney beat the seasoned veteran Jorge Linares in his last fight. He began the fight well and was in total control most of the time. However, in round 11 Linares struck him with a few good shots and was almost on the brink of knocking him out.
Yet, Haney showed composure, and he ended up winning this fight. On the other hand, Diaz got past Javier Fortuna to claim the WBC interim lightweight title. With this, ‘Jo Jo’ solidified his position, thus making sure to line himself up for a fight with the ultimate champ.
