It’s an undeniable fact that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been boxing’s signature representative during the century’s first two decades. Coming from an illustrious boxing clan, it was apparent that young Floyd Joy Sinclair would follow the way to the squared circle. As an amateur, he proved his mettle at 1993, 1994, and 1996 Golden Gloves, reaching the zenith at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, where he won the bronze medal. However, the nineteen-year-old boxer with an amateur record of eighty-four wins against eight losses turned professional the same year.

He won his first world title in 1998 at age twenty-one. Over the years, Mayweather Jr. made a habit out of moving through five divisions, defending and winning one title after the other. The two-decade-long journey ensured crossing paths with some of the greatest names in boxing. Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, and Manny Pacquiao, among many others, had the opportunity to face Mayweather Jr. in the ring.

Finally, at age forty, in 2017, Floyd Mayweather Jr. hung the gloves after his last fight against Conor McGregor. But the ring’s pull was strong enough to change his mind and enter the increasingly popular exhibition circuit. The former champion, who turned forty-six a few days ago, faced Aaron Chalmers in the year’s first exhibition fight.

Besides his professional accomplishments, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is globally known for his much-revealed opulent life. The boxing’s first billionaire jet sets across the globe on one of his Gulfstreams. He buys exquisite and expensive merchandise and gifts, bringing about a synonymity with his moniker ‘The Money’. However, personally, it hasn’t been smooth sailing for Mayweather Jr.

Floyd Mayweather’s kids’ mothers

Reportedly from the early 90s to the mid of the century’s first decade, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was in a relationship with actress Josie Harris. Over the years, the couple became parents to boys, Koraun and Zion Shamaree, and a girl Jirah. However, the relationship was a turbulent one. In 2005, Josie Haris filed a battery case against the boxing legend but later withdrew it. Finally, in 2010, though no longer in a relationship, based on Harris’ complaint, police arrested Mayweather Jr. on charges of domestic violence. Roughly a year later, by December 2011, the honorable court sentenced ‘Money’ Mayweather to 3 months of incarceration.

Instead, Floyd Mayweather Jr. served a sentence of two months, from June 1 to August 3, 2012, and resumed his boxing schedule. Sadly, Josie Harris passed away eight years later, on March 10, 2020, in what was described later as a case of an accidental drug overdose.
