Former unified featherweight world champion Mikaela Mayer recently revealed why she does not live with her partner. Mayer recently suffered a split decision loss to Alycia Baumgardner in their 130-pound title indication bout. Despite being a close fight, Baumgardner was crowned the winner and added Mayer’s IBF and WBO titles to her existing WBC, IBO belts.

However, it seems that Mayer is more concentrated on her personal life rather than her career. This was proved after she seconded a fan’s claim on Twitter about living separately with her partner. Ally Maynard recently revealed to the world that she was not living with her despite moving in together boyfriend which felt great in its own way.

“Last year my boyfriend and I moved in together but we have our own bedrooms/bathrooms and I’d like to report it is fuc***g amazing.” she wrote.

Mayer responded to the tweet claiming that this was the only way she would ever live with another person.

“This is the only way i’d ever live with someone at this point in my life. Own room & closet please.” Mayer wrote

However, one fan claimed that Mayer might be looking for a roommate instead of a partner.

“That sounds like a roommate don’t waste that’s person’s time.” he wrote.

Despite the criticism from fans, Mayer was quick to fire back and went into details as to why she does not live with her boyfriend.

Mayer went on and sounded off on the fan claiming that she and her partner did not believe in the concept of traditional marriage.

She added that both of them had their own homes and lived separately which helped them appreciate the time they spent together.

“My bf and I have a different belief. We own our own homes, live separately and don’t believe in traditional marriage. It works for us and we fully appreciate our time together as well as our autonomy” she wrote.

Mayer is a professional boxer who needs to keep up with an intense daily routine. However, this can certainly have an effect on her relationship with her schedule being a deterrent. Thus, a decision like this from her point of view seems sensible as she tries to maintain a balance between her profession and private life.
