In Early 2023, Ryan Garcia was looking forward to a splendid year, however, it all fell apart after his defeat at the hands of Gervonta Davis now known as Abdul Wahid. However, Garcia soon bounced back and won his fight against Oscar Duarte later in the year. As he is on the lookout for his new opponent, his quest so far has been packed with several twists and turns. Initially, it appeared that Garcia was going to fight Devin Haney next, but suddenly after spending some time with Floyd Mayweather, Garcia seemed to have changed his mind.

Then he moved on to Rolly Romero and just when it looked like he would fight ‘Rolly’, Garcia once again changed his focus to Isaac Cruz. Interestingly, Garcia recently made a post targeting both Romero and Cruz. This post has left even the former champion Jamel Herring confused.

Ryan Garcia and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero are both eyeing lightweight contender Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz for their next fights at 140, prompting questions about their choices. This move is perceived by fans as a lack of confidence in facing top competitors in the 140-lb division. Instead, they are searching for beatable opponents from the lightweight division to bring up to a higher weight class.

However, it appears that negotiations for Garcia is not going according to plan, which would explain his recent tweet in which he targeted both Cruz and Romero. He wrote on X, “At the end of the day rollies and pitbull do what you want. I don’t need any of you. At all. None of you you want to fight, and make the biggest purse of your life not my problem go ahead and fight between yourselves.

He shared the screenshot of the now-deleted post as he wrote, “Someone please explain his mindset here…”. In the comments, he also listed the list of opponents Garcia wanted to fight but now cannot. Herring cannot understand the direction the young boxer wants to head towards in terms of his boxing career. Expressing his frustration on social media, Romero criticized Garcia, De La Hoya, and DAZN too, calling the streaming network the “sh*ttiest” for wasting everyone’s time. Romero accused them of offering a deal to Isaac Cruz behind his back and falsely claiming he had priced himself out.

Despite expressing interest in a Garcia fight, talks had not even begun when Golden Boy shifted focus. The strained relationship between Garcia and Golden Boy, along with Ramirez’s ongoing lawsuit adds complexity to the situation.
