Ever since his arrival in the sport, Jake Paul has fought the likes of Tommy Fury, Nate Diaz, and Anderson Silva. While these fights have gone down as noteworthy clashes in his career, one fight still remains uncontested. His impending confrontation with KSI. From being a fighter he wanted to fight first to now, four years later, still not having fought him, their rivalry has still not seen a culmination.

It all started when Paul’s older brother, Logan, faced off against the Brit back in 2019. To settle their scores from the previous year’s draw match in London, Logan Paul and ‘JJ’ clashed again in Los Angeles. Paul lost that bout in a split decision. To avenge his brother’s loss, Jake Paul vowed to defeat KSI in the ring. However, to get the opportunity, one impediment remained.

Why did KSI vs. Jake Paul not happen four years ago?

In an old interview, ‘Problem Child’ explained the condition he found his older brother in, post his loss to KSI. To the BS podcast, he said, “Logan grabbed me and he was drunk in this sprinter van and I could tell how badly he was emotionally hurting from the loss to KSI.” To settle the score, he wanted to fight KSI. But, speaking about Jake Paul, KSI told AllHipHop, “If he beats Gib, then, fine, he can fight me.”

Ahead of the fight, in an interview, Paul noted, “I can’t say it with any more confidence. I don’t know where Gib’s level is at. He’s going to get walked through and then it’s on to KSI.” That fateful January night in 2020, Paul did it. He defeated AnEsonGib in a first-round technical knockout, clearing his path to KSI.

Cut to today. It’s been four years exactly. Still, the Paul vs. KSI fight has not seen the light of day. Remembering the promise, in a direct lynch to KSI, Paul took his today. He wrote, “4 years later. At the time they said beat Gib and then we will fight. Right on buddy. Keep running.”

While he insists that it’s KSI that’s dodging him, the latter however argues that he’s keen to fight Paul. Amidst their claims, who remains truthful? Well, it’s a bit complicated.

What’s the update on the anticipated clash?

For the last couple of years, JJ has sought to fight Jake Paul. However, the latter, who had powered through in his boxing career, has hardly shown any interest in fighting the 30-year-old. But, last year, there came a point where it seemed like the fight might just happen.

In early December, Paul’s business partner accepted a fight against KSI on behalf of Paul at 180. The catch? The winner gets 100% of the purse. Another catch. He explained that Paul was ready to fight in KSI’s bastion, the UK, only if the fight happened at 185.

Mams Taylor, KSI’s manager, responding to the call out insisted that the fight happen at 180. However, this was not acceptable to Paul’s side. If not, the UK was off the cards. With the present hurdle continuing, it seems highly unlikely that Jake Paul vs. KSI might happen anytime soon. Now, Jake Paul seems set on the path to grab a title fight and a fight against KSI does not lead there.
