In his recent interview with talkSPORT, promoter Frank Warren shared disappointing news centering on Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. After Usyk beat Anthony Joshua for the second time, ‘The Gypsy King’ announced his return to the boxing ring and fought Derek Chisora in a trilogy. While fans greatly expected a potential bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, Frank Warren disclosed that they still had not the “agreement of both boxers to make it happen“.

Warren stated that he would not conduct negotiations at the moment and that they were confidential between the two parties. In his interview with talkSPORT, Warren said, “You need the agreement of both boxers to make it happen and at the moment we haven’t got that, so that’s where we’re at.” With respect to the question regarding any issues around the value of the match, he added, “I have a pot and out of that pot I can only pay what’s in it and if it’s not enough money the fight won’t happen, at the end of the day we’re running a business.”

Warren believes he is greatly interested in seeing Oleksandr Usyk share the ring with Tyson Fury, the greatest fighter in Mike Tyson’s opinion. In fact, Warren spoke about a target date which is April 29. However, both Usyk and Fury have to possess the desire to square off against one another inside the boxing ring. Although the organizers are working hard, in Warren’s opinion, “to get it agreed the participants will have to agree“. However, if Usyk and Fury do not come to an agreement ahead of the 29th of April, Warren will move on for the time being.

If they agree then they’ll get it and if not we’ll move on and try and do it another time,” Warren added by saying. The English promoter believes no one wants to see the fight more than him. “No one has ever promoted the four belts, it’s never happened, so it’s history-making… I want it, but I can’t force people into a situation unless they’re comfortable,” he concluded by saying.
