Richardson Hitchins is making his presence felt in the super-lightweight division after putting down Gustavo Lemos. Moreover, it seems George Kambosos Jr is in his sights now. Before his victory in the title eliminator bout, Hitchins didn’t mince words. He downplayed Devin Haney‘s accomplishments, criticizing his recent fights against George Kambosos Jr and Vasyl Lomachenko.

Everybody knew Kambosos was a lick,” Hitchins said dismissively. He questions Haney’s character for not giving Lomachenko a rematch, suggesting it would have been the mark of a “true champion.” This particular statement didn’t sit well with Kambosos Jr, and he instantly responded to the disrespect shown by Hitchins in an old interview.

The snippet of Richardson Hitchins’ interview caught the eyes of the hardcore boxing fan. He talked about how after talking so much trash, Hitchins ended up fighting Gustavo Lemos who can’t be considered at the same level as George Kambosos Jr. In response, Hitchins mentioned Kambosos’ previous opponent Maxi Hughes, who lost the bout against William Zepeda via corner stoppage.

This appeared to be the tipping point, as Kambosos himself took to Twitter to address Hitchins’ comments in a scathing post. Kambosos mocked Hitchins’ upcoming purse, suggesting it was a pittance compared to his own eight-figure earnings. He wrote, “Settle down sh*tchins, go enjoy your 50k purse fighting infront of like 200 people.

Moreover, he also added, “Don’t talk about the 8 figure fighter with all the straps in his big a*s house selling out stadiums & arenas, while your tweeting from your room in mummy and daddy’s house. God bless, broke bum.” This statement ignited an online rivalry between the two, since Hitchins further extended the rivalry on X.

Hitchins takes it up a notch

After Kambosos Jr. mocked Hitchins’ purse, implying it paled in comparison to his own eight-figure earnings, it didn’t sit well with Hitchins, who responded with a fiery message directed at Kambosos. Hitchins threw verbal punches at Kambosos, calling him a derogatory string of names and urging him to retire from the sport. He wrote, “You bum a** weak a** trash a** fighter enjoy these next few checks you can get from the sport and retire you f***ing Bum.

Kambosos Jr. opted for a mocking approach. He flippantly suggested Hitchins could “do a lot” with his recent purse and even offered him a playful sum of money to hold his championship belts. This was a clear reference to Hitchins’ lack of titles at this point in his career. Hitchins again responded, “Worst undisputed champion in boxing history You clown You would be one of the easiest fights in my career.

Even though, Hitchins was said to take a fight against Subriel Matias, he might even take his chance against the former unified champion George Kambosos Jr. What are your thoughts on this? Tell us in the comments section.
