Tim Tszyu is 19 lbs heavier than Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid after he converted to Islam. Additionally, Tszyu is three inches taller than the current WBA Lightweight champion of the world. However, Welterweight boxer Mykal Fox feels Davis is not far behind Tszyu when it comes to throwing power punches. As a result, ahead of Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora on March 30th, Fox, who sparred with both Davis and Tim, drew a parallel between ‘The Soul Taker’ and ‘Tank’.

Before Fundora defeated Tszyu via UD inside the T-Mobile Arena, Mykal Fox was interviewed by FightHype. The 28-year-old was asked who hit harder between Tszyu and Davis. In his reply, Fox recalled the times he sparred with the boxers.

Speaking of Davis, Fox referred to sparring with the former when they were in their late teens. “When I was 18, ‘Tank’ was probably 19. ‘Tank’ hit me with a shot that almost put my lights out. We are sparring, he throws an overhand right, I see it. But, it’s too late to maneuver past it,” said Mykal Fox.

Boom, when he hit me, and I jokingly said, but I was like, ‘Damn, somebody hit a light switch in here.’ But, when I saw nobody reacted, I realized, ‘Damn, that’s my light switch.’ That is the power that ‘Tank’ has where he can end the night early,” ‘The Professor’ added.

On the other hand, Fox said all of Tim Tszyu’s shots were heavy. In his opinion, Tszyu could break his opponents down. “He hit me with a shot on the top of my head a little bit, that buzzed me sound like. I took a similar shot like that from Tank,” Fox explained. According to him, knockout power is a gift only a few have received. Later, Fox’s words came to Gervonta Davis’ notice.

After the last fight against Ryan Garcia in April last year, Gervonta Davis is expected to return against Frank Martin on the 22nd of June this year. Martin, 18-0-0, had helped Davis prepare for his fight against Leo Santa Cruz in 2020. Later, speaking of his experience with Davis in the ring, Martin said that Davis wasn’t the hardest puncher in the sport. However, when Mykal Fox praised Davis’ power, ‘Tank’ appreciated it.

Taking to X, Davis shared the brief clip of Fox speaking about Tszyu and Davis’ power. While Davis did not say much, he captioned the retweet with a dancing emoji. Anyway, the manner in which ‘Tank’ knocked out the likes of Garcia, Santa Cruz, and others is evidence of the fact that Gervonta Davis can throw power. Well, what do you make of Fox’s analysis?
