The lightweight division just saw an epic title fight showdown, as Teofimo Lopez has taken it all tonight. Adding the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles on his shoulder, he is the new unified word lightweight champion now. Meanwhile, Vasyl Lomachenko had to depart the arena empty-handed with another loss on his pro-boxing resume. However, he didn’t fail to put on a show tonight. Going to the distance with one of the best lightweight world champions, Lomachenko had his moments in the fight. However, it wasn’t enough to bag the victory.
That said, the 32-year-old still has a long way to go in the sport. While this was just a mere setback in his career, he would want to return stronger than ever in his next fight. Yet, the wound of the loss might sting for some time since it was the biggest fight of his career to date.
