The reigning undisputed lightweight champion, Devin Haney, is gearing up for his next bout against WBC super lightweight champion Regis Prograis on December 9 at San Francisco’s Chase Center. The 24-year-old boxer, Haney, typically trains under the guidance of his father Bill and Ben Davison. However, he’s been adding extra training sessions with Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao‘s trusted long-time coach. Despite Roach’s battle with Parkinson’s, he appears to be managing well.

While Haney excels in pad work, his fighting style often involves jabs, movement, and clinching in actual bouts. Prograis has, however, expressed increased confidence in his ability to defeat Haney after viewing his training video.

Regis Prograis advises Devin Haney before their bout

Prograis criticized Haney’s punching power, dismissing the impact of the muscle mass Haney has gained, stating that it won’t be a game-changer. Responding to Haney’s comments about his footwork, ‘Rougarou’ mocked the former’s footwork, advising him to put in more effort there. “He told me do footwork. He better fu*king do it for sure. That motherfu**er put a video out hitting the bag with his size on and he think that he was doing something. He got size and sh*t, But he hit the bag soft as a motherfu**er.”

Attacking him on his training with Roach, Prograis said, “And the motherfucker training with Freddie Roach, that ain’t gonna do shit. Freddie Roach, you ain’t gonna do shit. Can’t fight for him. That shit ain’t gonna do nothing.” He proceeded to boldly claim that he would knock Haney out, who would be lying on the floor when the bout ended.
