Despite this, Tyson was able to negate his flaws purely by his boxing skills becoming so great that people had to respect him, even if they didn’t admire the former heavyweight champion. In contrast, his childhood years were some of the worst experiences of his life as he has claimed publically in many interviews. Moreover, there were some instances where Tyson was subjected to an amount of abuse that easily stands out from the rest. In his book, Undisputed Truth, Tyson revealed that he was subjected to a lot of abuse because people thought he was a thief. He claimed that he had stones thrown at him while he walked down the street with people calling him out with racial slurs.
“A landlord or owner of a store would see me walking by and pick up a rock and throw it at me. “Motherf***g little thieving bas**d. They’d see me in nice clothes and they just knew that I was the n**a stealing from them,” he said.

In the next paragraph, Tyson shared a story about a guy named Nicky who harassed him into moving out of the city. Moreover, he was not shy to use violent ways if the former champion didn’t oblige with his demands.
“I was walking past a building one time and I stopped to talk to a friend and this guy Nicky came out with a shotgun and his friend had a pistol. His friend pulled out his pistol and Nicky put the shotgun over my p**is. ‘Listen little ni***a, if I hear you’ve been going up on that motherfucking roof again, I’ll f**k you up. If I ever see you again in this neighbourhood I am going to blow your b**ls off,’ he said. I didn’t even know who the f**k this guy was, but he evidently knew who I was,” he added.
