Tim Tszyu got a new dance partner in the form of Sebastian Fundora. Originally slated to face Keith Thurman who pulled out due to an injury, the undefeated Aussie will now look to defend his WBO title and pick up the WBC vacant super welterweight title against his new opponent, Fundora. This fight promises a clash of styles. Fundora stands a whopping 22cm taller than Tszyu.

But don’t underestimate Tszyu’s boxing prowess. He’s known for his devastating body shots, a weapon that could exploit any openings in Fundora’s extended frame. At the same time, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe believes that the ‘The Soul Taker’ shouldn’t take his upcoming fight lightly taking into consideration his recent comments.

According to the latest media reports, Tim Tszyu is not afraid to fight anybody including the likes of Terence Crawford or Errol Spence Jr. Previously, Ellerbe commented that it was very premature of the Australian boxer to think about Crawford when his upcoming match is going to be a handful. Ellerbe wrote, “Tim Tszyu is already talking Spence/Crawford, he better worried about the 6’6 guy who is going to be right in front of his ass on 30 Mar!!

Ellerbe was asked again about his views on the upcoming fight during his interview with FightHype. He stated, “That’s definitely a no-no. I don’t know what they thinking but Fundora ain’t no chump. He ain’t no chump. He’s a tough out for anyone. He’s coming to fight like he always does and I expect Tim to have his hands full.” Then the reporter asked him whether he thought this fight was tougher for Tszyu than the Keith Thurman matchup which failed to materialize.

Ellerbe responded, “Stylistically I think it creates more problems and another caveat is that Tim hasn’t had ample time to prepare for a guy like Fundora.” However, Tszyu’s team sees this fight as a gateway to a potential blockbuster event for the boxer.

Tim Tszyu vs. Terence Crawford might generate big numbers

While Tszyu prepares for his Las Vegas showdown with Sebastian Fundora this Sunday, talks of an epic clash against Terence Crawford are heating up. A bout with Crawford could be a gala event in Australian boxing history, with a whopping $38 million purse on the line. Tszyu’s promoters will be meeting Crawford’s representatives in Vegas this week to hammer out the details.

Tszyu’s manager, Glenn Jennings, told FOX Sports, “We’re talking big numbers – it would be the highest-grossing fight in Australian boxing history.”

He also estimated the earnings from that fight, “Crawford is a $US15 million ($22.9m) fighter, so if you draw a line from that, Tim would be around the $US10m ($15.3m) mark, because he would be the unified champion going into that fight.”
