So, as the news goes, Shakur Stevenson will reportedly face Frank Martin for the vacant WBC Lightweight title. It might take place in either November or December this year. The development comes as Devin Haney, who defended his undisputed title from Vasyl Lomachenko, expressed an interest in moving to 140 pounds for a possible clash with the champion, Regis Prograis. Fans and followers witnessed Haney and Stevenson engaged in a slanging match amidst discussion for a fight, which the latter eventually turned down as he found the split disagreeable. Fans came across an old clip of a Rolando Romero interview, where he chipped in with his views on both boxers.

Candid take on Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney: Rolando Romero

So Romero replied, “I mean, if you can’t knock people out, you’re one of the worst fighters in the history of boxing, and honestly, he’s the worst thing for the damn sport, like I’m [going to] touch you, but I’m not [going to] hurt you because I don’t want to hurt you because boxing is a non-contact sport; it’s, uh, it’s a point sport.

Continuing further, he held Devin Haney as one of the dullest boxers. However, according to him, the undisputed champion at least attempts to knock out his opponents despite his seeming limitations. But when it comes to ‘Sugar,’ he would knock down a person outside the ring rather than do anything inside.

Calling Stevenson the most uninspiring fighter in boxing’s history, he said, “…they can say whatever the f**k they want. They can hype him up and all that stuff, but [I] I really feel bad for him because he there’s no way they could put him on pay-per-view. He can’t sell a fight.

Last year, Romero’s campaign to claim the (Regular) Lightweight title from Gervonta Davis crumbled miserably. Beginning this year, he clarified that he was moving up a division. Though initially set to fight Alberto Puello, last-minute changes brought in Ismael Barroso. The match on May 13 ended in Romero’s favor, though controversially. The WBA had announced that he would defend his title against mandatory challenger Ohara Davies.
