The most anticipated fight of the year just concluded with Gervonta Davis stopping Ryan Garcia in the seventh round of the fight. Throughout the fight, Davis’ display of skill was commendable, and the judges’ scorecards are proof of that. It is safe to say that Davis was able to outbox Garcia, without having to go on the offensive side and mostly focusing on the counters. The fight ended with Davis landing a quick body shot on Garcia in the seventh round. Garcia showed a late reaction to the punch as he tried to endure the pain, but he got on his knees and thus had the first loss of his career. During the post-fight press conference, a reporter asked Davis’ thoughts on Garcia and how he compared with the other guys Gervonta has fought before. In response, Davis said, “I will say the best fighter is probably, I’d say he is the best fighter”. Davis ended his comment with the statement, “It was fun while it lasted”.

Boxing enthusiasts went crazy after Michael Benson, a sports journalist, shared the clip on his Twitter account. Several fans were prompted to highlight that Davis appeared insincere. They also noted that Garcia did not appear to have pushed Davis to his limits.

Fans expressed their disbelief in Davis’ comments on Garcia being the best opponent he ever had so far. Some of them pointed out how it seemed like Davis won the fight pretty easily. One fan, Liam Freeman, shared his respect for both fighters, while also saying that it looked like this fight was the easiest fight of Davis’s career.
