Though he may have stepped away from the ring, he still keeps an eagle eye on the current happenings. ‘Captain Hook’ had an exclusive telephone call with iFLTV’s Umar Ahmed. Here he was asked for his opinion on Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder match.
Roy Jones Jr is all Praise for Tyson Fury
‘RJ’ was impressed with ‘The Gypsy King’s emphatic stoppage win. He said, “Tyson Fury is one of the smartest guys in boxing today. I told Tyson Fury about 3 or 4 years ago that if he gets his act together, get himself in shape, he’ll be real happy with the outcome because he can beat multiple other guys.”

The former champion went on to praise Fury’s mental skills too
“He’s smarter than most of them. He’s more gifted in boxing than most of them. He uses his tools smarter. Mohammed Ali was the greatest of all time. But Mohammed Ali only used 65% of boxing skills. Rest of it he used his mind. Tyson Fury has a mind like Ali. He can beat anybody.“

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder have boxed twice. Their first meeting in 2018 was a draw. It marked the first time ‘The Gypsy King‘ did not win a professional bout. Fourteen months later their second bout was stopped in round 7 after ‘The Bronze Bomber’s corner threw in the towel.
Wilder exercised his rematch clause immediately and maintains that it wasn’t the real Deontay Wilder in the ring that night. The fight is moved from July due to the Coronavirus. An ESPN report quotes Bob Arum hinting at an October date for the trilogy.
